Guide Right
Guide Right is our National Service Initiative and includes all our youth-oriented programs. However, the Flagship Initiative of the Guide Right Service Program is the Kappa Leadership Development League (Kappa League). Guide Right is a youth program which provides inspirational, mentoring, educational and occupational guidance by facilitating youth access to training and networking opportunities with successful role models. We focus on developing leadership, creating an achievement mindset, and mentoring. We have mentored over 500,000 young people. IN THE US, WE ARE THE OLDEST, MOST SUCCESSFUL MENTORING PROGRAM FOR YOUNG PEOPLE OF COLOR!

Local Program
Our local Program supports all interested youth in North San Diego, South Riverside and Orange Counties. It is a collaboration with Delta Sigma Theta Sorority’s E.M.B.O.D.I. program. Kappa League’s purpose is to provide access to successful, predominately African American male role models who will inspire, counsel, coach, tutor and mentor our youth in areas that include math, science, reading, writing, self-esteem, leadership, police interactions, life experiences and subsequent career choices. This is a sustainable, non-discriminatory program with the basic objectives to;
- Help youth select courses compatible with their vocational aspirations, aptitudes, interests and potential.
- Assist students to get started in employment and to progress successfully in their chosen fields.
- Assist, often single-mother families, with mentoring their sons. Giving them opportunities to talk over their problems with those who know, have overcome similar issues, and are successful in their chosen vocation.
- Afford youth a respite from the dangers and drudgery of the streets, and expand their horizons through sponsored entertainment, travel and cultural enrichment. • Convince youth to value higher education and provide access to financial assistance for their continued educational pursuits.
- Provide assistance for participants to realize their potential in school and in subsequent life.
- Promote sound study habits and exposure to science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM) activities and training.
These objectives are accomplished through a structured, on-going program conducted once per month with Kappa League, and supplemented by once-a-month meetings with our sorority partner, Delta Sigma Theta. We work with youths in secondary school who typically stay with our program through high school graduation.
Because our members have overcome many of the challenges these youth face, they are an effective and credible resource. They can make a real connection as a rare positive role model in their lives!
